For those seeking to prove their proficiency in English and improve their career prospects, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) provides an official benchmark for employers, higher education institutions and research centers.  TOEFL ITP (Institutional Testing Program) is a paper-based test that is recognized at many universities in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore and top universities in Indonesia such as Pelita Harapan, University of Indonesia, Gajah Mada University and business school Prasetyo Mulia.  Companies and government agencies also use TOEFL to determine a staff’s prospects for a job promotion.

In cooperation with test provider IIEF (Indonesian Internasional Education Foundation), TOEFL ITP is a two-hour test divided into three sections including Listening Test, Written and Structure Test and Reading Test.  The test supervisor briefs the participants about each part of the test.  Before starting with the Listening test, they must listen to the sample recording before breaking the seal of the test book and proceding to listen to the conversations of this part of the test.  All participants must follow each section of the test with the allocated time without returning to the section once they have answered the test problems.  The Listening Test is 35 minutes with 50 questions; the Written and Structure Test is 25 minutes with 40 questions and the Reading Test is 55 minutes with 50 questions.  Time is of the essence and it is useless to dwell too long on one problem.

Practice makes perfect and this is no exception for participants before taking TOEFL ITP.  Reading, learning songs and listening regularly to the radio and television programs from Reuters, CNN, Russia Today, BBC, The Wall Street Journal provide great opportunities to improve English language skills.   A good night’s sleep before the day of the test helps participants stay alert.  It is essential to follow TOEFL ITP supervisor’s instructions and benefit from the test.

Upon completion of TOEFL ITP, the scores will be processed for 5 working days before given to the participants.  The scores are valid for 2 years.

A test fee of Rp. 425.000 is available for TOEFL ITP participants to register at Erlass Institute.  Participants must bring two 2B pencils, an eraser and a resident ID card (KTP) at the test site.   The next test date is on the morning of Saturday July 4, 2015.  For more information, please contact Ibu Yori/ Ibu Nuning at (021) 7918 0467.
